Incognito Dental Braces
It is possible, throughout one's life, that there is a need to wear dental braces to correct certain dental conditions, such as bite problems, incorrect tooth positioning on the arch, gaps between teeth, or even dental crowding.
However, there may be situations where patients do not wish to wear visible dental braces due to aesthetic concerns.
What can be done in this situation?
Well, technology has continued to advance over the years, leading to the development of incognito dental braces – braces that are not visible to the naked eye. Incognito dental braces are designed for teenagers and adults, aiming to address the aforementioned dental issues. These braces are mounted on the inner side of the teeth, making them invisible. Consequently, the patient can feel at ease and will not feel self-conscious in certain social contexts due to the need to wear dental braces.
Types of incognito dental braces
Incognito dental braces come in various forms:
- Invisalign Dental Braces. Essentially, Invisalign braces are clear aligners that are changed every two weeks. The aligners are durable, wear-resistant, and can be easily removed to facilitate dental hygiene.
- Incognito Dental Braces.Noteworthy for being applied to the inner side of the teeth, which makes them invisible, they are suitable for the majority of patients and can address various dental issues requiring the use of braces.
- Sapphire Dental Braces. Applied to the front of the teeth, these braces are completely transparent and nearly invisible. They feature a smooth, polished surface and rounded edges, providing a certain level of comfort to the patient.
The duration of treatment with incognito dental braces can vary from one to two years, depending on the case.
Installation Procedure for Incognito Dental Braces
The procedure for creating and installing incognito dental braces is not complicated. Firstly, a patient consultation is required, involving an analysis of their dental health and facial shape. Subsequently, the patient is presented with a demonstrative before/after scenario to set expectations for post-treatment results. Finally, once the dentist determines that the patient is suitable for incognito dental braces, the formalities for creating the braces will be initiated.
Incognito dental braces are typically manufactured in Germany or the United States. This entire process takes approximately 6 weeks, and after the application of the dental braces, check-ups are scheduled at 4-week intervals to ensure the patient’s progress is favorable.
Speech issues do not affect all patients, and for those who experience certain speech difficulties, these usually resolve within the first few days of brace installation.
Both sticky and crunchy foods, as well as hard foods, should be avoided to prevent accidents that could delay the final results of the treatment.
As for dental hygiene, the use of a fluoride-rich toothpaste is considered necessary to prevent the development of cavities and dental plaque. Mouthwash and dental floss should be essential components of the patient’s daily care kit.
